Skimboard Shoot Out starts May 30

DEWEY BEACH — On May 30-31, you can expect to see a crowd forming at the Indian River Inlet.

Although it isn’t for the long-awaited demolition of the bridge, spectators can still expect to see some action as skimboarders from all around the world will be competing in the 2009 Skim USA South Side Shoot Out.

The event is the sixth stop on the East Coast Skim Tour and an official stop for the United Skim Tour. This will be the first event on the UST this year after an event in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, was canceled.

LOCAL LAGUNA SKIMBOARDING LEGEND PUSHES CANCELLED COMPETION FORWARD

Laguna Beach, CA – Bill Bryan, current skimboarding World Champion and founder of The Cabo Classic Skimboarding Competition in Los Cabos, Mexico, is continuing his competition despite the economic and health crises in Mexico. Although some sponsors and the board of directors of the United Skim Tour (UST) decided to pull out, Bill took it upon himself to push the competition forward not only because it is one of the premier skimboard competitions in the world, but also because of the significance it has on the local economy in Los Cabos.
